• EDU-SPEB2 Spectrometer Educational Kits — ThorLabs: A kit for building either a grating spectrometer or a prism spectrometer from the same set of parts, so students can compare interference and refraction as dispersing mechanisms. A Czerny-Turner extension adds absorption spectroscopy.
• LP980: Transient Absorption Spectrometer — Edinburgh Instruments: Flash photolysis transient absorption spectrometer for following short lived excited states and reaction intermediates. The kinetic configuration measures a decay at a single wavelength; the kinetic and spectral configuration adds an intensified CCD so the whole transient spectrum can be captured at chosen delays. Excitation is a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser with an optional tuneable OPO.
• IR5: FTIR Spectrometer — Edinburgh Instruments: Fourier transform infrared spectrometer covering 8000 to 350 wavenumbers with a signal to noise ratio of 20,000:1. Integrated desiccants and an electronic dry membrane keep the optics dry without routine purging, and a photoluminescence upgrade adds Fourier transform PL measurement, which is unusual on a benchtop FTIR.
