Products
- MFPG: Unit for studying Forces in a Jib Crane — EDIBON: MFPG is used to measure the forces in the members of a simple jib crane. Loads are hung from the jib and the tie and strut forces are read on spring balances, so measured values can be compared with a drawn force diagram.
- MVS: Suspension Bridge Unit — EDIBON: MVS is a model suspension bridge for studying cable structures. Point and distributed loads are applied to the deck while cable tension and sag are measured, showing how the cable profile and support reactions change with loading.
- MARP: Parabolic Arch Unit — EDIBON: MARP is used to study a parabolic arch under load. Horizontal thrust and reactions are measured for point loads at different positions along the span, allowing the influence line for thrust to be plotted and compared with theory.
- MART: Three-Hinged Arch Unit — EDIBON: MART is used to study the statically determinate three hinged arch. Reactions and horizontal thrust are measured for loads at different positions along the span, and influence lines are then plotted from the results.
- MFBS: Unit for Studying Forces in a Simple Bar Structure — EDIBON: MFBS is used to measure the member forces in a simple pin jointed frame. Loads are applied at the joints and the tension or compression in each bar is read, so results can be checked against the method of joints.
- MFCS1: Unit for studying Forces in Different Single Plane Trusses — EDIBON: MFCS1 allows several plane truss configurations to be built and loaded. Member forces are measured with load cells or spring balances so students can compare experimental values with those from the method of sections and joints.
- MFCS2: Unit for studying Forces in an Overdeterminate Truss — EDIBON: MFCS2 is used to study a statically indeterminate truss. Redundant members are added or released while member forces are measured, showing how the load path changes and how indeterminate structures are analysed.
- MFCS3: Unit for studying Deformation of Trusses — EDIBON: MFCS3 is used to measure joint deflections in a loaded plane truss. Dial gauges record movement at chosen joints so measured deformations can be compared with values obtained from the unit load or virtual work method.
- MFL: Two Hinged Arch Unit — EDIBON: MFL is used to study the statically indeterminate two hinged arch. Horizontal thrust and deflection are measured for loads at different positions, so the influence line for thrust can be plotted and compared with theory.
- MPO: Portal Frame Unit — EDIBON: MPO is used to study the behaviour of portal frames under horizontal and vertical loads. Support reactions and sway are measured for pinned and fixed bases, allowing the bending moment distribution to be examined.
