Products
- Riso TL/OSL Reader Model DA-20 — Riso: An automated reader for thermoluminescence and optically stimulated luminescence measurements. It heats, irradiates and optically stimulates samples in sequence and counts the light emitted. It is used for luminescence dating of sediments and ceramics, retrospective dosimetry and radiation protection.
- Detection and Stimulation Head (DASH) — Riso: A modular head for the Riso TL/OSL reader holding LED stimulation modules, an automated filter changer and an optional detector changer. It can be fitted retrospectively to existing readers and accepts attachments such as the single grain unit and the spectrometer.
- Beta Irradiator attachment — Riso: A detachable beta irradiator mounted above the sample carousel of the Riso TL/OSL reader, giving software controlled irradiation of samples in place. It carries a strontium 90 source and is used to deliver known laboratory doses during equivalent dose measurement.
- 241Am alpha irradiator — Riso: An alpha irradiation option for the Riso TL/OSL reader, integrated with the system lid so that a sealed shaft allows it to be operated under vacuum. It carries an americium 241 foil source behind a pneumatically controlled shutter for alpha dose response work.
- X-ray generator — Riso: An X-ray irradiation option for the Riso TL/OSL reader, for laboratories that prefer to give dose by X-rays rather than from a radioactive source. It is supplied with a collimator, mechanical shutter, software controlled high voltage supply and fail safe interlocks.
- Single laser single grain attachment — Riso: An attachment that measures optically stimulated luminescence from individual sand sized grains. A focused green laser is steered across a disc of 100 grain holes by a motorised scanning mirror system, so each grain is read separately after common irradiation and heating.
- Dual laser single grain attachment — Riso: A single grain attachment with two focused lasers, green and infrared, so that feldspar contaminated quartz can be screened grain by grain. Both beams are steered by a motorised scanning mirror system over discs holding 100 individual grains.
- Violet stimulation attachment — Riso: A violet laser stimulation option for the Riso TL/OSL reader, fitted in the same style of head as the single grain attachment. It comes with matched stimulation and detection filters, and its driver electronics sit inside the reader controller.
- Pulsed OSL attachment — Riso: A plug in board for the Riso controller that pulses the stimulation light and gates the detector, so that luminescence is counted between the pulses. It is used to separate quartz from feldspar signals in feldspar contaminated samples.
- Photon Timer attachment — Riso: An attachment that records when each individual photon is detected, at 1 ns resolution, relative to the start of the preceding stimulation pulse. The supplied PTanalyse software builds photon arrival time distributions and OSL decay curves for different gating intervals.
- Bleaching facility, External broadband source — Riso: A high power broadband LED light source used for fast bleaching of natural samples in the Riso TL/OSL reader. The light reaches the reader bleaching position through a liquid light guide, and the exposure can be controlled from the reader software.
- Bleaching facility, LED module — Riso: A bleaching module fitted in a dedicated position inside the Riso TL/OSL reader, holding either a violet or an ultraviolet LED. Samples can be bleached during a run using the Illumination command in the Sequence Editor, powered from a supply built into the reader.
- Radioluminescence attachment — Riso: An attachment that detects the light emitted while a sample is being irradiated. It combines a modified beta irradiator, a cooled photon counting head and an infrared interference filter, and RLanalyse software is supplied for fitting the decay curves.
- Sample camera — Riso: A camera fitted to the Riso TL/OSL reader that photographs each sample automatically after the luminescence measurement. The images support visual inspection and image analysis of grain number, coverage area, grain size distribution and colour distribution.
- X-ray fluorescence (XRF) attachment — Riso: An X-ray fluorescence attachment that estimates the composition of feldspar samples measured in the Riso TL/OSL reader. It reports the relative proportions of potassium, sodium and calcium feldspar and estimates any quartz contamination in the sample.
- Optically Stimulated Luminescence (OSL) unit — Riso: The combined infrared and blue light stimulation head that attaches to the Riso TL sample changer. It carries LED clusters under optical feedback control of power and supports continuous wave and linearly modulated stimulation of natural and artificial materials.
- Optically Stimulated Luminescence (OSL) unit for Single Grain analysis — Riso: A stimulation head that gives infrared and blue light stimulation of multiple grain samples while leaving room for the single grain attachment. It uses the same diodes and delivers the same power at the sample as the standard IRSL/OSL unit.
- Optical filters — Riso: The set of stimulation and detection filters supplied as standard with the Riso TL/OSL reader, cut to fit the reader filter holders. Detection filters stop scattered stimulation light so that only the much weaker luminescence reaches the photomultiplier tube.
- PM tube — Riso: The photomultiplier tube used for single photon counting in the Riso TL/OSL reader, sold as a bare tube or complete with its housing. It combines a high linear count rate with a low dark count, which matters when weak luminescence signals are measured.
- Calibration quartz — Riso: A batch of Riso calibration quartz supplied with a stated laboratory dose and a defined grain size range. It is sold as a reference material for use with the Riso TL/OSL reader, so that laboratories can work from a common quartz standard.
- Riso Gamma Spectrometry System — Riso: A scintillation gamma spectrometry system for routine analysis of natural radionuclide activity concentrations. The results feed the burial dose rate calculations used in luminescence age determination. Detector, lead shield, analysis software and calibration standards are included.
