• QREC: Computer Controlled Batch Enzyme Reactor — EDIBON: A batch reactor built to run the isomerisation of glucose catalysed by glucose isomerase. It is used to teach batch enzyme kinetics, enzyme activity and the effect of temperature and pH on an immobilised biocatalyst. Process variables are logged through the EDIBON SCADA software.
• QRALC: Computer Controlled Airlift Reactor — EDIBON: An aerobic submerged airlift reactor made of transparent material so that internal recirculation can be observed. It is used to determine the characteristic variables of airlift operation, including gas holdup, circulation velocity and oxygen transfer, which makes it suitable for teaching bioreactor design.
