• EBEC: Computer Controlled Bioethanol Process Unit — EDIBON: A laboratory scale unit covering the complete bioethanol route, from the preparation and fermentation of the feedstock through to distillation of the ethanol produced. Students monitor temperature, pH and product concentration and can follow the effect of each variable on yield.
• EBGC: Computer Controlled Biogas Process Unit — EDIBON: An anaerobic digestion unit supplied with two packed digesters, so the process can be run in a single stage or split into two stages to separate the phases of digestion. It is used to study biogas generation, organic loading rate, retention time and the effect of temperature on gas production.
