- SOM® 82 — Karl Kaps: Kaps built the SOM 82 as a mobile incident light stereo microscope that travels to the work rather than the other way round. It clamps directly to a sturdy table or anchors on a bracket, and the continuously adjustable swivel and floating arms cover a generous working area from a single position. Magnification can be specified as a 3-step or 5-step changer or an optional manual 1:6 zoom, combined with wide-field eyepieces of 10x V, 12.5x V or 20x V and objectives from f = 100 to 400 mm in 50 mm steps. Training and education centres, dentistry, veterinary medicine, restoration and microsurgical exercises are the applications Kaps names, and an optional aluminium case allows compact storage and safe transport.
- SLM 1 — Karl Kaps: The SLM 1 is the larger of the two Kaps stereo tabletop microscopes and is built around space. Its base plate measures 420 x 600 mm, leaving room for instruments, specimens, documentation and both hands at once, and the column guide with clamping covers a height range of 500 mm for objects of very different sizes. Kaps aims it at training centres, educational laboratories and workplaces running practical exercises, from microsurgical training to dental technical work and quality control on larger items. The LEDone source gives daylight quality with no warm-up time, a monocular co-observer tube is available so an instructor can watch at the same magnification, and the stainless steel column with scratch-resistant coated base plate stands up to shared daily use.
- SLM 2 — Karl Kaps: Where a full sized laboratory microscope will not fit, the SLM 2 delivers the same Kaps optics from a footprint of just 300 x 400 mm. Kaps describes it as fitting anywhere: desk, laboratory bench or workbench, with no space too tight for the system. The LEDone source is ready the moment it is switched on, giving daylight quality with no warm up time or calibration, and an ergonomic inclined tube at 60 degrees is standard. Magnification is a 3-step changer as standard with a 5-step option.
