Single stage impulse steam turbine with injector, brake and water cooled condenser. A belt brake with load cell measures torque, and closing a solenoid valve at the condenser outlet lets a known volume of condensate be timed to give the steam flow.
Steam power plant of 1.5 kW for detailed study of the power generation cycle with steam as the process fluid. Softened water is raised to superheated steam in a diesel fired generator, expanded in the turbine and returned as condensate from the cooling tower.
Complete Rankine cycle in which water is pumped to a computer controlled boiler, expanded in a two cylinder steam motor and condensed back to the storage tank. A throttling calorimeter gives the dryness fraction of the steam produced.
