Meicen builds the wing board from a carbon fibre shell over a foam core, which adds stability while keeping attenuation low, and the set-up itself is simple and comfortable. Holding the patient's arms up helps secure the intended radiotherapy effect, and the board is compatible with the T and U grips and with the Meicen Supine Breast Board. Put together with a T-shaped or wing board vacuum bag, headrests and a lock bar, it forms a complete arrangement for breast and upper body treatment positioning. Meicen notes that wing boards are often used when radiation is being delivered to the chest area.
