A tray drier consisting of a tunnel through which heated air is passed over trays holding the wet solid. Sample weight, air temperature, humidity and velocity are followed so that drying rate curves and the critical moisture content can be determined.
A batch distillation unit with a boiler that accepts interchangeable plate and packed columns. It is used to follow the change in still and distillate composition through a batch, and to study the effect of reflux ratio on separation and on cycle time.
