A compact surgical microscope for general eye surgery, the Ophthal Basic is built for practices and smaller clinics that want dependable optics without additional complexity. The five-position apochromatically corrected magnification changer switches between overview and detail without sacrificing stereoscopic vision. Coaxial cold light fibre optic illumination rated 15V/150W produces the bright red reflex that reveals every layer of the retina, and a ready-to-use spare lamp is built in. Patient safety is covered by the swing-in GG 475 retina protection filter with permanently installed IR and UV filters, and the motorised 40 mm fine focus is driven from a foot switch.

What separates the Basic+ from the Basic is agility. A motorised XY coupling with a 50 x 50 mm range of movement lets the microscope head be repositioned from the foot control panel, so the surgeon's hands stay clear of the operating field during phacoemulsification, aspiration of lens fragments and IOL implantation. The same 5x apochromatic magnification changer and coaxial cold light fibre optic illumination with the GG 475 retina protection filter carry over from the Basic, along with built-in IR and UV filters. Kaps treats the model as an open platform: the binocular wide-angle swing tube 0-210° can be retrofitted, and assistant tubes and documentation accessories can be added as requirements grow.
Kaps calls the SOM4dent 300 the flagship of its endodontic microscopes, developed for dentists who work under magnification every day. Motorised 1:7 zoom with adaptive speed, a varioscope covering a working distance of 200 to 350 mm and electromagnetic brakes are all commanded from control buttons built into the comfort handles, so the hands stay on the treatment field. A double iris diaphragm improves depth of field for deep cavities and branching canal systems, while the swing-in orange filter prevents composite fillings curing early. Cabling runs inside the system and the fanless LED works without noise or dust disturbance.
The SOM4OPHT opens a new generation in the Kaps cataract range, running a dual LED system in which coaxial field illumination and a dedicated red reflex source are switched and dimmed independently from the touchpad. Three swing-in filters extend its use: green (red-free) for vascular contrast, orange (blue-blocking) to reduce blue light reaching the patient's eye, and blue for fluorescence diagnostics. Five memory slots store complete profiles covering zoom position, focus setting, XY coordinates and the intensity of both LED sources, which makes it well suited to clinics where several surgeons share one microscope. A true stereo observer lets the whole team follow the procedure in three dimensions, an advantage over monitor viewing alone for training clinics.
