Optically pumped far infrared laser producing terahertz output, tuneable from 40 micrometres to 1.222 millimetres. A CO2 pump laser gives 50 W on its strongest line across 80 accessible lines, and the far infrared cavity converts that to the terahertz region for spectroscopy and physics research.
Continuous wave carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide gas lasers, from the 1 W sealed PL2-S up to the 180 W flowing gas PL6. Line selection ranges from 50 to 90 lines depending on model, and active stabilisation holds frequency to within a few megahertz over ten minutes. They are used in spectroscopy, non-linear optics, LIDAR and interferometry.
Far infrared laser cavities in single cavity (295) and twin cavity (395) form, part of the Edinburgh Instruments FIR series. They are pumped by a CO2 laser to generate far infrared and terahertz output for spectroscopy, non-linear optics and interferometry.
