Ozone free 450 W xenon arc lamp emitting continuous radiation from 230 nm to 2600 nm, used as the steady state excitation source on the FLS1000. The integrated power supply displays lamp voltage and current with an hour meter, and an off-axis ellipsoidal mirror refocuses the emission into the monochromator.
Optically pumped far infrared laser producing terahertz output, tuneable from 40 micrometres to 1.222 millimetres. A CO2 pump laser gives 50 W on its strongest line across 80 accessible lines, and the far infrared cavity converts that to the terahertz region for spectroscopy and physics research.
Xenon arc lamp operated by superimposing a high current pulse on a low current simmer supply, so photon flux during the pulse is far above the steady state level from the same lamp. It gives a broad band light pulse with a flat time profile, which suits measurements that need high pulse energy across a wide spectral range.
