AFT is used to measure friction losses in pipes and fittings. Pipes of different diameter and roughness, bends, valves and sudden changes of section are connected in parallel circuits with pressure tappings. Computer controlled and standalone versions, AFTC and AFT/P, are also published.
LFA is a Hele Shaw apparatus for showing two dimensional streamline flow. Dye is injected into the thin gap between parallel plates so flow around aerofoils, cylinders and other shapes can be traced and photographed.
AMT is a pipe network for studying flow distribution in looped and branched systems. Valves isolate each branch while flow and head loss are measured, so the Hardy Cross method can be applied. Computer controlled and standalone versions, AMTC and AMT/P, are also published.
