Radioactive sources are stored in this tungsten container behind 20 mm of tungsten shielding. Its top lid carries a tapered hole that accommodates dose drawing while minimising radiation exposure, and the hole can be shielded with a tungsten plug. That plug is optionally supplied threaded, although Nuclear Shields recommend leaving it unthreaded where threading is not needed so the hole diameter stays as small as possible. 20 mm is the standard shielding thickness and can be customised; where less than 6 mm is required they point instead to their tungsten vial shields.
