A three wire gas flow proportional backscatter detector for conversion electron Mossbauer spectroscopy. It examines thin films and near surface layers without high vacuum, and can also detect re-emitted x-rays to probe deeper regions of the sample.
A furnace for Mossbauer effect measurements in vacuum or gas from room temperature upwards. A quartz tube holds the sample holder and inner heat screens, and two pipe connections allow evacuation, gas filling or a continuous gas flow without dismantling the furnace.
The basic Mossbauer bench, consisting of an optical track with sliders, clamps and mounting elements for the velocity transducer, absorber and detector. The rigid design suppresses vibration that would otherwise broaden the Mossbauer lines.
