The SLM 1 is the larger of the two Kaps stereo tabletop microscopes and is built around space. Its base plate measures 420 x 600 mm, leaving room for instruments, specimens, documentation and both hands at once, and the column guide with clamping covers a height range of 500 mm for objects of very different sizes. Kaps aims it at training centres, educational laboratories and workplaces running practical exercises, from microsurgical training to dental technical work and quality control on larger items. The LEDone source gives daylight quality with no warm-up time, a monocular co-observer tube is available so an instructor can watch at the same magnification, and the stainless steel column with scratch-resistant coated base plate stands up to shared daily use.
