The SOM examination series has been a fixture in ENT practices for decades and is aimed at clinicians who want an uncomplicated but highly precise diagnostic instrument. A 3x or 5x magnification changer works with apochromatically corrected, interchangeable objectives from f=200 to 400 mm, and the optional Kaps Variflex-100 covers 220 mm to 320 mm from a single compact lens with integrated lens protection. A modular colposcope supplied either as the SOM 52 on a mobile stand or as the SOM 42 mounted on a treatment chair, with the same optics in both configurations.
