A modular reactor bench built around a base and service unit to which interchangeable reactor modules are fitted. It lets students compare continuous stirred tank, tubular, batch, laminar flow and plug flow reactors on a small scale. Temperature, conductivity and flow are logged through the SCADA software.
Analyser dedicated to measuring metal dispersion in supported catalysts, that is the fraction of metal atoms exposed at the surface and therefore available to react. It is a focused instrument for catalyst development where dispersion is the number being optimised.
A fixed bed catalytic reactor unit for studying the hydrolysis of sucrose into glucose and fructose. It demonstrates heterogeneous catalysis, conversion against residence time and the effect of temperature on reaction rate. A spectrophotometric analysis section allows the reactor outlet to be measured directly.
