MES is a basic unit for balancing rotating masses in a single plane. Known masses are fixed at different radii and angles on a disc and the required balancing mass is then determined experimentally and by calculation.

MEVTC is a computer controlled unit for studying torsional vibration of shafts and rotor systems. Free and forced torsional oscillations are excited and the response is recorded through the data acquisition system, giving natural frequencies and damping.
MED is used to balance rotating masses on a shaft. Weights are set at chosen angular and axial positions and the shaft is run in flexible bearings, so students can find the balancing mass and angle for both static and dynamic balance.
MVRE is used to study the torsional oscillation of a mass supported by a spiral spring. Students measure the period of oscillation for different inertias and spring stiffnesses and compare the measured values with theory.
