FME14 is used to produce and measure free and forced vortices. Tangential inlets generate a free vortex and a paddle generates a forced vortex, and the surface profile is measured with a depth gauge for comparison with theory.

FME17 is used to study the free jet issuing from an orifice. The jet path is traced with a row of adjustable needles so the trajectory can be plotted and the coefficient of velocity determined at different heads.
FME04 is used to study flow through a sharp edged orifice under constant head. The trajectory of the jet and the volume collected give the coefficients of velocity, contraction and discharge for the orifice under test.
FME19 demonstrates cavitation in a flowing liquid. Water passes through a transparent venturi where the throat pressure is lowered until vapour bubbles form and then collapse downstream, showing the conditions under which cavitation occurs.
