Tap sieve shaker that mechanises the manual sieving procedure specified in several national standards, superimposing a vertical tapping action on a horizontal circular motion. It is used where a standard calls for tapping rather than vibration, and gives the reproducibility of a machine in place of hand sieving.
Air jet sieving machine for fine powders that agglomerate or will not pass a mesh under vibration alone. A rotating slotted nozzle blows a jet of air up through the mesh to disperse the sample while a vacuum draws the undersize away, so each cut is made on a single sieve rather than a stack. It is used where a conventional vibratory shaker cannot disperse the material.
