Covers the manoeuvres carried out with separately excited DC motors, wired by the student with commutators, timers and contactors. Starting, reversing and speed control by armature and by field are all studied on the modular rack.
Covers brushless DC machines and the electronic commutation they require. The student works through the usual industrial manoeuvres using the motor's own control system, observing how the drive sequences the windings and regulates speed.
