Coherent Laser Cutting & Drilling Systems in Bangladesh: Precision Manufacturing for Industry and Research

How Coherent's ExactCut, StarCut Tube, PowerLine FL and AVIA NX laser systems are transforming precision metal cutting, tube processing and microdrilling in Bangladesh's garment, pharmaceutical, electronics and university research sectors.

Bangladesh's manufacturing sector — from RMG accessories and pharmaceutical packaging to electronics and university research — increasingly demands micron-level precision that conventional mechanical cutting cannot deliver. Coherent (formerly II-VI / Rofin) is the world's largest vertically integrated laser company, and Vvon Technologies Limited is the authorised channel partner for Coherent laser cutting and drilling systems in Bangladesh.

Why laser cutting is replacing conventional methods

Laser cutting offers a non-contact, heat-affected-zone-minimised process that produces burr-free edges on metals, polymers, ceramics and composites. Unlike mechanical punching or waterjet cutting, laser systems require no tooling changes, can switch between profiles in milliseconds via CNC, and achieve tolerances below ±0.05 mm. For Bangladesh's export-oriented industries — where dimensional consistency directly affects buyer acceptance — this translates to fewer rejects, faster changeovers and lower total cost per part.

Key industry applications in Bangladesh

Garment accessories & trims: Laser cutting of metal zippers, buttons, buckles and decorative hardware to exact tolerances — eliminating manual filing and reducing scrap. Pharmaceutical packaging: The PowerLine AVIA NX UV laser ablates blister foil and PVC packaging with no thermal damage, enabling serialisation and tamper-evident scoring. Electronics & PCB: UV laser drilling of microvias and depanelling of rigid-flex boards without mechanical stress. University research labs: The StarCut Tube system is widely used in biomedical engineering departments for cutting nitinol and stainless-steel stents and scaffolds. Automotive & engineering: The ExactCut 430 handles structural steel, aluminium and stainless profiles for automotive parts, signage and architectural metalwork.

Facility requirements and installation

Coherent laser systems require a clean, temperature-controlled environment (18–25°C, <60% RH), a dedicated electrical supply (typically 3-phase 380 V / 50 Hz), chilled water cooling (for high-power fiber systems), and Class 1 laser safety enclosures with interlocked access panels. Vvon Technologies provides the complete installation scope: site survey, civil works specification, electrical supply design, machine installation, beam alignment, safety validation and operator training. We also supply laser safety eyewear, fume extraction and Class 1 enclosure upgrades where required.

Import, customs and BTRC considerations

High-power industrial lasers (Class 3B and Class 4) are subject to import permit requirements in Bangladesh. Vvon Technologies manages the full import process including HS code classification, NBR customs clearance, and where applicable, coordination with the Chief Controller of Imports & Exports (CCIE) for import permit clearance, as required for Class 3B and Class 4 laser equipment under NBR/Customs regulations. Our experience with previous Coherent and Cemar Laser imports means we can provide accurate duty and lead-time estimates at the quotation stage.

After-sales service and consumables

Coherent systems use proprietary laser sources, optics and motion controllers. Vvon Technologies maintains a stock of critical consumables (protective windows, nozzles, focus lenses, assist-gas fittings) and provides first-line service through our Dhaka-based engineering team. For major laser source replacements or advanced diagnostics, we coordinate directly with Coherent's Asia-Pacific service centre. Annual preventive maintenance contracts are available for all installed systems. Request a laser cutting consultation →
