An imaging enquiry needs more than a camera model. Start with the clinical team's approved requirements and identify the workstation, quality-assurance equipment, shielding and site work that belong in the procurement scope. ECAM NOVA Scintron: A dual head gamma camera for SPECT, whole body and planar imaging in busy departments. It uses FRED digital detectors with 59 photomultiplier tubes per head, real time body contouring and an integrated touchscreen for positioning. Detector heads work at 76, 90 and 180 degrees. SYNGULA SCINTRON: A compact large field of view gamma camera for planar work, built for static, dynamic and gated studies on sitting and lying patients. Gamma Flood: A rigid PMMA fillable flood phantom for quality control of detector homogeneity on gamma cameras, and for generating the uniformity correction maps the camera applies. Gamma Resolution: A four quadrant lead bar phantom in a rigid PMMA housing, used for routine quality control of gamma camera spatial resolution. Cardiac First-Pass: A SCINTRON planar program for first pass studies of the heart, acquired while a bolus of high activity is still inside one ventricle. Analysis of Suppression: A SCINTRON program that compares a thyroid uptake study acquired before suppression with one acquired after it. The detector support column is mounted about a centimetre above the floor so the head moves quickly along any axis, and ParalyzerPLUS rigid registration corrects for movement in real time during acquisition. ParalyzerPLUS Real-Time Motion Correction: Motion correction software for the MiE Equine Scanner H.R. MiE state that they developed the world's first real time motion correction to reduce motion artefacts when imaging a standing horse, with rigid registration software that allows shorter image acquisition times and improved diagnostic quality. Because ParalyzerPLUS removes the need to repeat acquisitions, the scanning process is significantly faster, no post processing is required for motion correction, patient throughput increases and staff radiation exposure per examination is minimised. Image Fusion (Fusion 2D) for Equine Scanner: MiE's image fusion for the Equine Scanner brings scintigraphy and x-ray images together to widen the diagnostic possibilities. The program evaluates the different structures, resolution, acquisition geometries and regions, then adjusts rotation, translation (shift) and scaling. The process operates multi modal and automatic, so the fused result carries the morphologic information of the x-ray together with the functional information of the scintigraphy in one image. MicroPET PSF: A tissue equivalent point spread function phantom for pre-clinical PET systems. It comprises pairs of cylinders in six tissue equivalent materials, one solid and one with a central hole to take a capillary filled with radionuclide. (datasheet)
NU4 PET IQ: A small field of view PET image quality phantom designed for pre-clinical scanners. It allows testing of image quality, attenuation correction and scatter correction using fillable rods, fillable cylinders and a uniform section, to the NEMA NU4 standard. (datasheet)
PET CT MRI Cubes: A set of seven clear PMMA cubes each holding a small fillable spherical void, used as point source markers for checking alignment between PET, CT and MR. They can be filled with a radionuclide, CT contrast agent or MR contrast agent and sealed with the nylon screw supplied. (datasheet)
PET IQ: An anthropomorphic PMMA body phantom for PET and PET/CT image quality testing. Six hollow fillable spheres screw into a plate on one face and can be filled with water for cold lesion imaging or with 18F FDG for hot lesion imaging. (datasheet)
NEMA IEC Body Phantom Set, Model PET/IEC-BODY/P: This set is made up of a body phantom, a lung insert and an insert carrying six spheres of various sizes. Its design follows the recommendations of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) as modified by the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA), and MiE recommend it for evaluating reconstructed image quality in whole body PET imaging. Listed applications include simulation of whole body imaging with PET and camera based coincidence techniques, determination of coincidence count rate characteristics in brain and cardiac imaging, evaluation of the relationship between true coincidence count rate and radioactivity, determination of address errors caused by address pile up, evaluation of the count loss correction scheme and research. Four Quadrant Bar Phantom (Rectangular, Square and Circular): MiE publish the four quadrant bar phantom in three formats. The Rectangular Bar Phantom measures 22 1/4 in x 17 in with bar sizes of 2 mm, 2.5 mm, 3 mm and 3.5 mm. The Square Bar Phantom is 16 7/8 in square with bar sizes of 1/8 in, 5/32 in, 1/4 in and 3/16 in. The Circular Bar Phantom is 16 in round with bar sizes of 2 mm, 2.5 mm, 3 mm and 3.5 mm. (datasheet)
Cobalt-57 Flood Sources (C-Thru): MiE describe these as the highest quality sources for performing quality control on gamma camera systems. Every C-Thru flood source uses proprietary cobalt chemistry in the manufacturing process and is delivered with a homogeneous field of view distribution showing a coefficient of less than 1 % variation. Recommended working life of a Co-57 flood source is 2 years, and disposal of sources is arranged on request. (datasheet)
Jaszczak Phantom (Deluxe): A Jaszczak phantom for quality control, used to carry out system evaluation on all types of SPECT and PET systems covering uniformity, linearity and resolution, as well as acceptance testing and routine quality assurance and control. The Deluxe version has a cylinder wall thickness of 3.2 mm, a cylinder inside diameter of 21.6 cm and a cylinder inside height of 18.6 cm. Rods are supplied in six diameters at a height of 8.8 cm, and six solid spheres are set with their centres 12.7 cm above the base plate. (datasheet)

Fillable flood phantom: A refillable flood phantom for quality assurance of gamma camera homogeneity. An integrated circulation pump mixes the filling completely, the design gives a bubble free field of view, and the composite construction stops the measuring surfaces deforming. CT TE: A tissue equivalent CT phantom made up of a water equivalent nested head and body section, each drilled with eight holes for interchangeable tissue equivalent inserts. It is suitable for both kV and MV energies, so it can be used for diagnostic CT and for radiotherapy planning checks. (datasheet)
CTAEC-25: A CT automatic exposure control phantom built from eleven reconfigurable PMMA ellipses of 25 mm thickness. The stack simulates a changing patient cross section along the scan so the constancy of the AEC can be checked, and each step accepts dosimetry or image quality inserts. (datasheet)
CTAEC-50: A CT automatic exposure control phantom using six reconfigurable PMMA ellipses of 50 mm thickness. It is used for constancy testing of CT AEC systems where a coarser step size than the CTAEC-25 is sufficient. (datasheet)

Tungsten Container - 20 mm (VS242): Radioactive sources are stored in this tungsten container behind 20 mm of tungsten shielding. Its top lid carries a tapered hole that accommodates dose drawing while minimising radiation exposure, and the hole can be shielded with a tungsten plug. That plug is optionally supplied threaded, although Nuclear Shields recommend leaving it unthreaded where threading is not needed so the hole diameter stays as small as possible. 20 mm is the standard shielding thickness and can be customised; where less than 6 mm is required they point instead to their tungsten vial shields. My hospital wants to start cardiac SPECT imaging. What equipment do I need?
Plan a complete clinical pathway: appropriate SPECT acquisition and licensed cardiac analysis, ECG gating where suitable, authorised tracer preparation and assay, a supervised stress service with emergency readiness, and physics/QA support. Compare a general-purpose MiE ECAM NOVA with cardiac-focused D-SPECT or a suitable hybrid system. Scan time, activity and attenuation correction depend on the exact configuration and validated protocol; a two-minute study or CT-free correction is not universal.
We need a nuclear medicine system that can do both oncology and cardiology. What do you recommend?
Compare the required studies, radionuclides, patient access, quantitative functions and workload. MiE ECAM NOVA supports general SPECT, whole-body and planar work in suitable configurations; VERITON-CT adds a CZT ring architecture and integrated CT in the quoted model. Neither is automatically ideal for every oncology/cardiology service. Confirm coverage, CT purpose, software, QA, site needs and lifecycle cost using manufacturer evidence.
How do I perform quality assurance (QA) on my gamma camera? What phantoms do I need?
Have the medical physicist define the programme for the exact detector geometry and clinical functions. It may require uniformity, resolution, linearity, sensitivity, geometric, tomographic and hybrid registration checks, plus radiation monitoring. Leeds Gamma Flood, resolution/distortion tools and SPECT IQ support particular measurements. VERTO produces moving-line centring, uniformity and spatial patterns; SPECT IQ does not independently replace every centre-of-rotation or correction test. Agree compatible tools and acceptance methods before use.
Our gamma camera QA requires a flood phantom, but it is too heavy and difficult to handle. Is there an alternative?
VERTO is a possible alternative for compatible gamma-camera QC: its controlled moving line creates centring, uniformity and spatial patterns without filling a large flood volume. It still uses a radioactive line source and has its own handling, support and calibration requirements. Ask the manufacturer and physicist to confirm compatibility and that the intended tests meet your programme before replacing the existing method.
We are starting PET imaging. What QA phantom do we need for PET scanner performance testing?
Select phantoms from the PET system and physicist’s acceptance programme. Leeds PET IQ supports image-quality measurements using suitable spheres/inserts, while PET CT MRI Cubes can support multimodality geometric checks in a compatible setup. Confirm the exact model, filling method, isotope, analysis and test standard. A phantom set alone does not establish quantitative calibration, timing, sensitivity or every required PET/CT test.
MIE Scintron vs Spectrum Dynamics VERITON: which gamma camera is right for my hospital?
Compare the exact MiE and VERITON configurations against clinical requirements and evidence, not detector age alone. Required modes, field of view, radionuclides, CT functions, patient access, software, QA and support all matter. CZT may offer useful count or workflow performance, but an 18-minute examination, fixed dose saving or higher revenue is not guaranteed. Ask for a complete quotation and demonstrated performance for your intended studies.
Where is cancer treatment and nuclear medicine imaging available in Bangladesh?
For a scan or treatment, contact an authorised clinical centre or your referring clinician and confirm the exact service, tracer, referral and appointment requirements. Availability differs by site and changes over time. Vvon handles equipment enquiries; it does not provide cancer treatment, prescribe examinations or operate a nationwide appointment service.
