Compare laboratory freeze dryers by sample chemistry, batch load, chamber format, vacuum pump and acceptance requirements. Includes BIOBASE and Infitek examples.
Scientific & laboratory RFQ checklist (TXT)
A laboratory freeze dryer, or lyophiliser, should be selected around the sample and the complete drying workflow. Before comparing prices in Bangladesh, record the sample composition, volume per batch, container format and required final result. A condenser temperature or a large chamber alone does not establish suitability. This guide covers equipment procurement; it is not a drying-cycle recipe or pharmaceutical process validation.
| Buying requirement | Configuration to discuss | Question for the offer |
|---|---|---|
| Separate flasks or several small sample types | Manifold and compatible flask adapters | Which ports, valves, flasks and adapters are supplied? |
| Material spread across trays | Tray chamber and suitable shelf arrangement | What usable area, tray spacing and loading limits apply? |
| Vials requiring closure under vacuum | Compatible stoppering chamber | Which vial dimensions, stopper arrangement and mechanism are supported? |
| Pilot batches or controlled shelf programmes | A system with the required shelf and process controls | Can the manufacturer demonstrate the proposed load and recording requirements? |
Labconco's manufacturer FAQ explains the distinction between manifold and tray arrangements. These formats help define the enquiry; they do not make equipment from different manufacturers interchangeable. List the vessels you already use, including dimensions, rather than asking for a generic accessory package.
Suppliers may publish shelf area, material loading volume, condenser volume and ice collection capacity. Keep the units and test conditions beside each number. They describe different constraints. Ask the manufacturer to size the system for your proposed batch, including freezing, drying, defrosting and cleaning time. Avoid treating a no-load vacuum specification as a promise of performance with your samples.
Record the full sample composition before selecting the condenser and pump. Solvents or corrosive constituents can change material and pump requirements. The manufacturer should confirm compatibility with the chamber, seals, vacuum line and exhaust arrangement. Labconco's lyophiliser selection questions explain why throughput and chemistry must be considered together; its capacity guidance is specific to its own systems.
VVON lists both BIOBASE and Infitek. The BIOBASE BK-FD12 family and Infitek LYO60B family have model variants. Compare the column for the proposed variant, not the largest number anywhere on the family page.
Infitek's published LYO60B table distinguishes standard, manifold, stoppering and combined arrangements. It lists different tray loading and drying-area figures between configurations. Confirm the full model suffix, the pump and accessories in the offer. Browse the evaporation and freeze-drying catalogue for the current listings and linked specifications.
The chamber arrangement, usable batch capacity, refrigeration, pump, process controls and accessories determine the equipment scope. Compare delivery, installation, training and documentation separately. Request a dated, itemised quotation for the same application brief from each supplier.
Do not assume it is. Food throughput, cleaning, contact materials, packaging and process requirements need a separate assessment. State whether the purchase is for research, pilot trials or routine production, and obtain the manufacturer's written suitability statement for that intended use.
Send sample composition, batch volume, containers, intended result, required records, site utilities and purchase timeline. Include an exact model if already shortlisted. Use the editable laboratory quotation checklist, then discuss the freeze-dryer configuration.
