Plan clinical analyser, histology and blood-bank equipment purchases around workload, consumables, site readiness and written acceptance requirements.
Clinical laboratory procurement should begin with the department's approved service requirements. A catalogue can help compare instruments, but the clinical team must confirm intended use, workflow and the documentation needed for the proposed configuration. This checklist helps prepare an equipment enquiry; it does not replace the institution's clinical validation or approval process.
List the examinations the department intends to perform, specimen types, average and peak workload, batch patterns and turnaround requirements. Record existing analysers and any tests that will remain outsourced. An advertised maximum throughput is not the same as the department's achievable daily output: preparation, controls, maintenance, reruns and staffing also affect the workflow.
Browse clinical analysers and diagnostics by the required discipline, then request a configuration matched to the test menu. The BIOBASE and Infitek manufacturer pages include the corresponding equipment ranges and exact model searches.
Do not treat ‘open system’ as proof that any reagent is suitable. Ask for the supported configuration and evidence relevant to the institution's intended method. When comparing offers, keep the test menu and consumable assumptions consistent so the running-cost comparison is meaningful.
A pathology list may span tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, staining, slide handling and storage. Check the capacity and interfaces between these stages. For histology and pathology equipment, specify cassette or block formats, sectioning requirements, accessories, blades, reagents and expected batches. Confirm extraction, room conditions and handling requirements with the responsible laboratory team.
For blood-bank and transfusion equipment, identify the components being handled, required capacity, monitoring, alarms, backup arrangements and record-keeping. The institution should define the storage and processing conditions and acceptance evidence. A general laboratory refrigerator should not be assumed to meet a blood-bank requirement because its stated temperature range overlaps.
Before ordering, assign responsibility for electrical supply, water quality, drainage, ventilation, bench space, delivery access and any interface work. Request current model-specific manufacturer documentation, the proposed installation and training scope, acceptance checks and written warranty terms. State who will perform verification or validation and what must be complete before routine use.
| Quotation item | What to make explicit |
|---|---|
| Equipment | Model, version, quantity, options, accessories and intended use |
| Consumables | Initial supply, compatibility, storage, expiry and replenishment |
| Site work | Utilities, access, connections and responsibilities |
| Handover | Installation, checks, records, training and acceptance criteria |
| Support | Warranty, exclusions, service arrangements, parts and software |
Send the department, location, approved test menu, workload, existing equipment and required date. Add model numbers and quantities where known. Request an itemised clinical laboratory quotation, or use the brand pages to build a mixed equipment list. Hospital medical-gas infrastructure remains outside VVON's advertised scope.
Check current model details through the BIOBASE catalogue and Infitek catalogue, with a direct manufacturer source linked on each VVON product page. Equipment ranges reviewed on 28 September 2026; product documentation and commercial terms should be reconfirmed for the order.
